Prof. Kamran Hameed has been elected as a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

HEC Granted Rs. 1.5 million for research project

Congratulations to Dr. Qamar Jamal and Dr. Mohiuddin Alamgir for being awarded a research grant of 1.5 million rupees from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The title of the research project is "Genetic Pleomorphism at CYPIAL, GSTMI and GSTTI among various tobacco habit groups and susceptibility to oral precancerous legions and Squamous Cell Carcinoma".

Events of Gynaecology & Obstetrics Department

Professor Rubina Hussain, Chairperson Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ziauddin University, has been elected as Chairperson of the RCOG International Representative Committee of Pakistan (January 2010) for four year. She arranged a dinner at her residence on 29th of April 2010 which was attended by Professor Jim Dornan (Council of RCOG), Dr Ghazna Siddiqui (Chairperson of RCOG Laision committee of Pakistan), fellows and members of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist in Karachi.

Emergency Obstetric Skills Workshop

The department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Ziauddin University has organized a series of Workshops on Emergency Obstetric Skills (EOS). The 2nd EOS workshop was held on 16th and 17th July 2010, 9 – 4 pm at the North Nazimabad Campus (Education Block). The 2-day Hands-on workshop was indented to improve of skills of both students and doctors.  

The facilitators for the workshop were:

It was a well participated workshop. The batch XI - final year (group C) form Ziauddin University participated, along with Dr. Urooj, Nausheen, Sangeeta, Erum, Aliya, Quratulain, Madiha, Sabrina. Abbasi Shaheed hospital was represented by Dr. Hafiza Yasmeen, Dr. Sana Ara. Other doctors were Dr. Farah Khan (Senior registrar from Hamdard Hospital), Dr. Asifa Mehmood (Al-Samad Hospital).

The workshop consisted on ten modules on different aspects of emergency obstetric care including Resuscitation, Eclampsia, Obstructed labour, Hemorrhage, Sepsis and other common obstetrical emergencies. The participants had an opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

The 3rd EOC, 2-day workshop will be held on 24th and 25th September 2010 at Ziauddin University, North Nazimabad Campus.

Admission Open - B.Sc(N) Fast Track - One Year Degree Program (Part Time)

Approved by Pakistan Nursing Council.

Eligibility Criteria:

• 3 year Diploma + 1 year of further training as RM/DWA/DTA etc. (Approved by PNC)
• No age limit
