Dr. Sir Ziauddin Ahmed (1877 - 1947) was an outstanding and versatile educationist and political figure, he was also the longest serving Vice-Chancellor in the history of Aligarh Muslim University. His close association with Sir Syed Ahmed Khan added to his stature and dignity.

He had a dream to establish a medical college at Aligarh Muslim University which was not realised in his life time. This dream of his came true with the establishment of Ziauddin Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan.
